YoungOk Kim is a professional flutist and abstract artist from South Korea. She has completed her education in South Korea, the Netherlands, Russia, and Austria. She does concerts in Europe and Asia to share her music and passion.
"I was born as the eldest sister of five siblings. My parents loved music and always encouraged us to learn an instrument as kids. Consequently, I grew up in an environment where there was some form of music constantly.
As a kid, I often liked to organize a family concert, where my mom would usually sing accompanied by my dad on the piano and us the siblings playing the flute, accordion, and violin.
Surprisingly enough, I decided that I want to major in music at my university and became a professional flutist. For my concerts, I invested a lot of time in practice and those times became the basis for my creative imagination. Putting those abstract imaginations into the canvas and connecting them with my visual expression was more than just an “interest”.
It all began with expressing music into the paintings. But, not it feels as my paintings are the music."
